Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose a boutique consultancy?

Over the past few years, more and more organisations are outsourcing key functions or tasks; particularly those requiring perceived and actual independence and objectivity. In some cases internal human resources practitioners are not seen to be, nor can they be, experts in everything in which case organisations which specialise become valuable. In some cases HR and line professionals are responsible for implementing counselling and discipline in performance and conduct which makes them less likely to be regarded as suitable implementers of change or investigators, facilitators of workplace grievances.

What do we offer that big consultancies don't?

Nothing automatically. However our size and the strong relationships we forge with client organisations and the local knowledge we glean over time enable us to create, not just add, value for our clients as their needs become apparent. Our overheads are much smaller and our fees therefore can represent excellent value for money.

What is our competitive advantage?

Our ability to combine expertise in organisational psychology with workplace justice and organisation development; i.e. looking at big picture and cost effective solutions to workplace issues rather than take a piecemeal or transactional approach. As an alternative to running company wide training, for example, we will seek to harness internal expertise to support the achievement of business outcomes.

What is our core competence?

Our origins are in leadership and management training. However, by virtue of one approach made 14 years ago to become involved in an EEO and harassment issue, our practice has now developed an enviable reputation in those areas and has been at the forefront of consulting, training and case management in the whole gamut of workplace justice issues since the establishment of Brash Consulting in 1996.

With professional qualifications in organisational psychology and vast experience in HR strategy, organisation development and workplace culture, the practice principal, Leanne Faraday-Brash has been ideally placed to work in areas that collide with EEO, occupational stress and counselling. Bullying, harassment and sexual harassment issues require empathy, often an holistic or systems approach, a psychosocial perspective and skills in conflict resolution and mediation. From what our clients tell us, we are unique in being able to provide service and expertise across all those areas. We have succeeded in attracting people to our practice who have complementary skills or have been trained in these disciplines.

Can we resource large jobs, or jobs for large organisations?

We have serviced a wide range of clients that include national and international, public and private sector organisations. Brash Consulting has access to a small and select group of associates. We choose to work with few people to ensure quality and constant connection with our clients. However, if the job is too demanding, too big, requires more responsiveness than we can resource, we will refer elsewhere. It's that simple.

Why are we so busy?

We have access to people with exceptional skills and talents who are values driven and above all, really care. Whilst our practice is listed in one national training provider directory, we do not advertise. All of our referrals are exclusively by word of mouth and the volume of repeat business is testament to the quality of service we provide.

Our passion for what we do is obvious to anyone who works with us.
