Leanne Faraday-Brash - Principal Consultant

Leanne Faraday-Brash

Leanne Faraday-Brash MMgmt BA Hons (Melb) MAPsS, CSP is an organisational psychologist, organisation development consultant and Principal of Brash Consulting. Whilst she consults in a range of areas including workplace justice, change and leadership, the common thread is the emphasis on improving organisational effectiveness and workplace climate for all staff.

The name of Leanne's consulting practice Brash Consulting is no accident. Apart from being one half of her name, she is known to be eerily intuitive, compassionate, able to get to the essence of an issue quickly, and when necessary, willing to confront. She is frank and fearless in the advice she gives her executive clients as telling them what they need to hear that might not be shared by their own people is critical to adding true value. Leanne recognises that leaders can become "prisoners of their own elevation" and need a trusted adviser who will call it as they see it. Leanne is empathic and provocative in ensuring clients develop self awareness, acknowledge and 'own' their behavioural choices, act with self responsibility around broken promises and unmet goals in order to provide better leadership for their people. She understands the psychology of motivation and what needs to be in place for people to follow through and enact set goals. She is obsessed with the difference between 'wishful intent' and 'true intent' and believes the only way we really demonstrate true intent is through our actions.

Leanne has spent twenty years in the areas of leadership and management development, cultural change, organisational capability and workplace justice. She has written negotiation skills programs around the tenets of Principled Negotiation as taught at the Harvard Law School and is the creator and facilitator of the highly successful AIM training program in "Strategic Influence".

A sought after speaker, panellist, coach and facilitator, Leanne has a Masters degree in Management, an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Melbourne, and specialist qualifications in Family Therapy and Workplace Training.

Leanne has been awarded the designation of Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) which is the highest internationally-recognised speakers qualification and thus far achieved by only a handful of Australian speakers.

Leanne is a preferred provider to several government organisations and higher education institutions. She is proud to work extensively with the TAC, Department of Transport, Human Services and DIIRD. She currently provides a range of consulting and facilitation services to five Australian Universities.

A master trainer and accredited workplace assessor, Leanne has mentored and trained many novice and experienced trainers and other HR professionals to conduct high level programs in interpersonal skills, assertion & negotiation, presentation skills, leadership, employee relations and Equal Employment Opportunity.

Leanne spent six years as senior internal consultant to the ANZ Banking Group during which time she consulted widely with Executive, senior and line management across all business units. She helped them identify development needs, devise appropriate learning interventions and advised on complaint management and poor performance. Leanne wrote ANZ's programs in Equal Employment Opportunity, Sexual Harassment, Managing Poor Performance, Terminations and Unfair Dismissals and then accredited other HR practitioners to deliver the training to over 4,000 team leaders and managers across Australia. Her areas of special interest are career and family, and workplace justice.

Leanne has been published in medical, OHS and management publications and is known for her imaginative, provocative, sensitive and pragmatic approach to adult learning, team development and change (see Articles for more information).
